Smile Group Canada

The exclusive theatre group, ''Smile-Group'', under the guidance of Artistic Director Sasha Sinay, is being presented by the artists between the ages of 12-18 who work using unique techniques of Performing Arts - Juggling Show, Neon Show, Effect Show, Giant-Dolls Show and Bubble Show. The shows, created and performed by the group, also include various specific techniques of Street Theater, Circus elements, Acting, Dancing, Movement and colorful music.

"Smile-Group" - represented Canada at the 9th International Theatre Festival in Italy in April 2016, at the International theatre festival in the Czech Republic in May 2017, in Washington DC, USA and performed at Toronto International BUSKERFEST 2018 and 2019!

Sasha Sinay

Sasha Sinay - Artistic Director 

Artistic Director, Acting Instructor, Producer of shows and festivals, Director of municipal and community events, Director of Giant Dolls shows,  Juggling and Musical Shows, proven recognition in many international festivals (Japan, UK, Germany, India, Italy, Israel. Czech Republic, USA, Canada)

 

Over twenty years of experience as a Theatre Director at Municipal Theatre Herzliya (Israel) and as a Theatre Instructor at the Municipal Theatre Centre. Sasha possesses an extensive background in directing and organizing numerous municipal and community events and valuable practice as an Administrator and a Coordinator of theatre instructors, Director and Producer of national and international festivals. Sasha holds B.Ed. Degree - Directing and Theatre instruction and M.A. studies in Directing, Performing Arts and Community Theatre.

Following the relocation to Canada in 2013, Sasha founded a new Performing Arts Theatre Centre - Smile Group Canada, in Ontario, Canada. Since then, Sasha has been representing Canada locally and internationally.

Following the concept of Total Theatre*, Sasha established Smile Group Canada as an exciting mix of Educational Theatre Centre and Professional Performing Arts Theatre. Smile Group presents Canadian youth on the international stage worldwide. 

Nika Sinay

Nika Sinay - Performing Arts Instructor 

Nika is a performing arts and juggling instructor, performer, and Smile Group event planner. Sinay performed over 600 "Bubble Shows" in Toronto and the GTA. Nika represented Canada at multiple International Youth Theatre festivals including;
 The 11th International Youth Theatre Festival, SOUKANI Ostrov, Czech Republic; represented Canada with Smile Group's “Bubble and Juggling Show”. And “Sapperlot” the International Meeting of Youth Theatre in South Tyrol, Italy “Smile-Group” represented Canada with “Bubble and Juggling Show”. 
Nika is a current Media Production student at Ryerson University, interested in tv and film production and storytelling, advertising,  and children's media. 

Shai Fishman

Shai Fishman - Musical Composer and Producer 

Shai Fishman is a composer and producer of music for film, television, and theatre. 

His compositions and productions cover a wide range of genres and have been featured in theatre, musicals, TV and films around the world.

Shai's extraordinary ability to understand drama and action, combined with his innate talent and passion for theatre and live shows have made him an influential, creative and innovative force in his field. 
Some of his notable works include:

Composing and producing the original scores for all films by NASA’s Immersive Earth Grant, Houston Museum of Natural Science (HMNS.org) and e-Planetarium, since 2004. 
23 films in total and counting.. 
Creating, arranging and musically directing the internationally acclaimed a cappella show: “The VocaPeople”  (www.voca-people.com), for which he won the Lucille Lortel award and the French Emmy:  "Globes De Cristal".  The show celebrated 10 years of running in 2018. The winner of the 2011 British Arrow - "Best Commercial of the Year" for his work on the a capella flash-mob campaign - T-Mobile's “Life’s for Sharing”. Being an innovative producer-composer-arranger-orchestrator, Fishman is consistently expanding his repertoire and constantly engaging in new projects.

Vocabulary

*Total Theatre - a total or unified work of art, in which all elements – music, voice, movement and spectacle – work together. 

**Performing Arts - Performing arts refers to forms of art in which artists use their voices, bodies or inanimate objects to convey artistic expression. It is different from visual arts, which is when artists use paint, canvas or various materials to create physical or static art objects. 

***Happening - is a performance, or event meant to be considered art, usually as performance art. The event combines elements of painting, poetry, music, dance, and theatre and staged them as live action. Happenings occur anywhere and are often multi-disciplinary, emphasizing an interaction between the performer and the audience.
